Alaine Rodin | About
For the past twenty five years, Alaine Rodin has enjoyed an ongoing professional career on the operatic and musical theater stage. Her performances span several continents and countries including Europe, Central and South America, Japan as well as most of the continental United States. Recently, Alaine joined the faculty of the Theatre Arts Department at the International LISA School Europagym Auhof in Linz, Austria.
On the operatic stage Alaine’s repertoire spans 25 lead roles in the Spinto/Jungendlich Dramatisch Fach, highlights include: Salome, Tosca, Gutrüne (Götterdämmerung), Amelia (Un Ballo in Maschera), Katerina (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Liza (Pikovaya Dama), and Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro).
In the United States, Alaine has performed with Chicago Lyric Opera (Chicago, Illinois), New York City Opera, Virginia Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Michigan Opera, New Orleans Opera, Connecticut Opera, Augusta Opera, Sarasota Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, and Sacramento Symphony.
In Europe and abroad Alaine has performed with Theater an der Wien (Vienna, Austria), Landestheatre Linz (Linz, Austria) Opera Comique (Paris, France), Opera Nacional de Costa Rica (San Jose, Costa Rica), Camera Opera de Guatemala (Guatemala City, Guatemala), New Zealand Opera (Auckland, New Zealand), and Kyoto Music Festival (Kyoto, Japan).
Alaine’s performance credits include featured actress roles in the Broadway productions of Terrence McNally’s play Masterclass (Sharon Graham), and Baz Luhrmann’s production of Puccini’s La Boheme (Musetta).
Along with the aforementioned, Alaine has worked with many illustrious directors and conductors throughout the years, including Zubin Mehta, Dennis Russell Davies, Dante Anzolini, Leonard Slatkin, John Nelson, Lawrence Foster, Leonard Foglia, Dotty Danner, Olivier Tambosi, Andreas Baesler, and Baz Luhrman.
She received a Bachelor of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music from The Juilliard School, and a Professional Acting Certificate in Theatre from the Sanford Meisner Center.
Presently, Alaine makes Linz, Austria her home where she is head of the Theatre Arts Department at the International LISA School, Europagym Auhof in Linz, Austria and she is the founding Director of The Drama Club in Linz, Austria.
